About Marie
Marie is a Registered Speech-Language Pathologist with over 15 years of professional experience, having begun her career in 2011. A graduate of Western University, she has spent more than a decade working extensively with autistic children and youth, developing a strong foundation in functional communication, speech and language development, and individualized intervention.
Marie works with children and adolescents from infancy through age 17, supporting a wide range of communication needs. Her primary clinical interests include Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), articulation, language development, and functional communication.
She is particularly passionate about helping children develop communication skills that are meaningful and useful in their everyday lives. Whether a child is developing spoken language, working on speech sound clarity, learning to understand and use language, or communicating through AAC, Marie focuses on supporting communication that helps them express their needs, share ideas, make choices, and connect with others.
With extensive experience in autism-focused services, Marie understands that communication develops differently for every child. She values a neurodivergent-affirming approach that respects individual communication styles, recognizes existing strengths, and builds on each child's interests, abilities, and goals.
Her work with AAC users across all paediatric age groups reflects her belief that everyone deserves access to meaningful communication. Marie recognizes that communication is not limited to spoken words and that effective intervention should support each child's preferred and accessible ways of expressing themselves.
Collaboration is central to Marie's practice. She values the knowledge and perspectives of parents, caregivers, educators, and other professionals, recognizing that communication happens throughout a child's day, not only during therapy sessions. She works to connect therapy goals with practical strategies that can be incorporated into everyday routines, relationships, and learning environments.
Marie is also a curious and dedicated lifelong learner who values ongoing professional development, evidence-informed practice, and opportunities to learn from colleagues across disciplines. She brings a thoughtful, collaborative approach to clinical problem-solving and appreciates the importance of coordinated care when children benefit from support across multiple areas of development.
At Allied Therapy, Marie's extensive clinical experience and collaborative philosophy complement the clinic's integrated approach to supporting children and families. She believes that meaningful progress begins with understanding the whole child, respecting their communication preferences, and working together to identify strategies that fit their everyday lives.
For Marie, speech-language therapy is ultimately about helping children communicate in ways that work for them, while ensuring families feel informed, included, and supported along the way.
