About This Funding Program
Nova Scotia’s Direct Family Support for Children and Enhanced Family Support for Children programs primarily provide financial assistance for respite to help eligible children live at home with their families. Receiving respite funding does not automatically mean it can be used to purchase Allied Therapy clinical appointments.
How Allied Therapy Can Help
We offer clinical assessment, therapy and caregiver consultation for your child.
Our speech-language pathologists support speech, language, literacy, feeding, stuttering, social communication and AAC.
Occupational therapists support sensory regulation, fine motor skills, toileting support, and participation.
Behaviour analysts provide individualized, neurodivergent-affirming skill and support planning.
Play therapy can support children who have experienced trauma or who are going through big life changes.
Our clinicians can also discuss goals or recommendations that support consistency between therapy and everyday family routines.
We do not present our clinical therapy as a replacement for respite services.
How Funding Works
Ask your DFSC worker which expenses your specific plan permits. Contact Allied Therapy for clinical options, availability and fees. Please confirm payment responsibility before booking.
Who Can Access or Refer
Parents, caregivers, guardians, provincial program staff and community organizations supporting children and families.
