About Ruby

Ruby Watts is a Registered Counselling Therapist who supports adolescents ages 12+ and adults with anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, boundary setting, ADHD, relationship issues, identity exploration, grief and loss, and life transitions. Ruby supports couples who are experiencing communication difficulties, emotional regulation issues, life transitions, and navigating parenting and family dynamics.

Ruby has experience supporting individuals and couples who are navigating family dynamic challenges and can provide folks with a space to explore boundary-setting, healthy communication, and conflict resolution.

Ruby understands people’s emotional worlds from an attachment lens, and pays attention to the adaptive quality someone’s emotional reaction has. From this lens, she provides nonjudgmental support to those struggling with how they show up in relationships, and helps people get to the root of their emotional reactions.

Ruby works from an LGBTQIA2S+ affirming framework in both her work with individuals and couples. For Ruby, this means de-centering heteronormative dynamics in her work, and using affirming language with clients. Ruby welcomes LGBTQIA2S+ individuals and couples to her practice.

Prior to becoming an RCT-C, Ruby’s background was providing respite care for folks with disabilities. This work informs her practice as an RCT-C to provide compassionate, accessible care that meets clients where they’re at. This includes pacing sessions appropriately and creating an environment that feels comfortable and safe.

Using a person-centered approach, Ruby believes that clients are the experts of their own lives, and prioritizes providing a space that feels safe and connected. Drawing on her training and experience, Ruby tailors sessions to fit your needs. Her approach is collaborative and flexible.

Ruby’s approach is gentle and direct, providing a space dedicated to building trust, safety, and honesty. Through working with Ruby, clients are offered a space that invites them to deepen their relationship with self and others.
