About Kristy
Kristy Norton is a Clinical Therapist and Registered Social Worker who supports adolescents and adults with neurodivergence, executive functioning, mental health, and the everyday challenges that can come with trying to navigate systems that do not always fit the way a person's brain works.
Autistic, ADHD, and AuDHD individuals are welcome in Kristy's practice. Whether someone has a formal diagnosis, is considering whether they may be neurodivergent, or has come to understand themselves through their own experiences, Kristy provides space to explore those questions with curiosity, respect, and without judgment.
Kristy has particular experience supporting adults who are autistic or suspect they may be autistic, as well as teens and adults navigating ADHD and related executive functioning difficulties. Her work can include self-rediscovery after diagnosis, understanding late-identified neurodivergence, building executive functioning strategies, burnout recovery, return-to-work planning, workplace accommodations, self-compassion, and developing a clearer understanding of personal needs and strengths.
She has extensive experience working within psychological assessment environments. Her background includes guiding adults through autism and ADHD assessment processes, psychometric and psychoeducational testing, psychological assessment, and supporting individuals who are trying to better understand their cognitive, emotional, or learning profiles.
Kristy understands that medication may be helpful for some people with ADHD, while practical systems and skills are often still needed for everyday life. She works collaboratively with clients to develop executive functioning strategies that make sense for how their brain works. Sessions may include identifying barriers, testing strategies, adjusting systems, and practising approaches that can be used in school, work, relationships, and daily routines.
Her experience also includes supporting students with academic challenges, test anxiety, learning accommodations, ADHD, and immediate mental health needs. This background informs her work with high school and university students who may be trying to manage academic demands while also navigating executive functioning, anxiety, identity, or neurodivergence.
Kristy's broader clinical background includes work with anxiety, postpartum depression and anxiety, family violence, trauma, parenting, developmental disabilities, and community mental health. She has worked with children, adults, families, students, and community systems, giving her a strong understanding of how mental health and wellbeing are influenced by relationships, environments, access to support, and the systems surrounding an individual.
Her approach is person-centred, strengths-based, collaborative, and neurodiversity-affirming. Rather than beginning with what someone should change about themselves, Kristy works with clients to understand what is happening, identify what matters to them, and develop strategies that support greater clarity, functioning, and wellbeing.
For Kristy, therapy is not about making someone fit a predetermined definition of success. It is about helping people better understand themselves, develop tools that are useful in their actual lives, and build systems and supports that feel sustainable.
