About Katie

Katie Scott is a registered occupational therapist with a background spanning child and adolescent mental health, early childhood development, and primary health.. She helps children, youth, adults, and families understand the factors effecting everyday function and develop practical skills and strategies that support the activities and goals that matter to them.

Katie brings extensive experience in child and youth mental health to her occupational therapy practice. She has worked within hospital, community, and school-based settings. Her experience includes emotional regulation, executive functioning, self-care, productivity, leisure, life skills, parent education, and helping young people participate more successfully in their everyday environments.

Katie does not focus on one behaviour or skill in isolation in therapy sessions. Her approach recognizes that thoughts, feelings, behaviours, relationships, routines, environments, and everyday activities are interconnected. Family-centred care is an important part of Katie's practice. She recognizes that children develop within the context of their relationships and environments and works collaboratively with parents and caregivers to build strategies that can be used beyond the therapy session and incorporated into everyday family life.

Ultimately, Katie's approach to Occupational Therapy is about helping people participate more fully in their lives. Whether a family is navigating emotional regulation, executive functioning, developmental skills, mental health, self-care, or everyday routines, she works to understand what is getting in the way and identify realistic strategies for moving forward.

Outside of work, Katie enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, and connecting with others through shared meals and physical activity.
