About Domenica
Domenica Saldarriaga is a Client Care Coordinator at Allied Therapy and is often one of the people helping families feel welcomed and supported when they connect with the clinic.
Domenica is completing her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Mount Saint Vincent University, with minors in Neuroscience and Sociology. Her academic interests include child and adolescent development, behaviour, mental health, and the importance of providing children and families with appropriate support early in life.
She was drawn to Allied Therapy because of its multidisciplinary, client-centred approach and commitment to inclusive, neurodivergent-affirming care. Domenica has a particular interest in learning how different professionals can work together to support children and families across communication, behaviour, development, mental health, and everyday participation.
Originally from Ecuador, Domenica also brings an important cross-cultural perspective to her role. Spanish is her first language, and she is fluent in both Spanish and English. Her own experiences have contributed to her appreciation for cultural awareness and the importance of creating environments where families from different backgrounds feel welcomed, respected, and comfortable asking questions.
Domenica's background includes psychology research, mental health support, youth leadership, community involvement, and customer service. As a research assistant in a psychology lab at Mount Saint Vincent University, she supported participant recruitment and communication, informed-consent processes, research data collection, and the careful handling of sensitive information.
She has also volunteered in mental health support, using active listening and empathetic communication to support people experiencing mental health challenges. These experiences have strengthened her understanding of the importance of listening carefully, respecting confidentiality, and responding to people with patience and compassion.
Her community involvement has included welcoming and supporting international students, youth leadership, and community-based projects. Through these experiences, Domenica has developed a strong appreciation for creating inclusive environments where people feel comfortable participating, asking questions, and being themselves.
At Allied Therapy, Domenica brings those same values to the client experience. She understands that reaching out for therapy can come with questions and uncertainty, and she values helping create a welcoming experience from a family's first interactions with the clinic.
Domenica's long-term goal is to work with children and adolescents in a clinical setting. Her role at Allied allows her to continue learning about paediatric therapy, early development, behavioural support, mental health, and interdisciplinary care while contributing to the experience of the children and families Allied serves.
