About This Funding Program
Nova Scotia's Subsidized Adoption Program may provide financial support for specific identified needs or circumstances after adoption. Eligibility is individually determined and may take into account the child's needs, family resources and access to publicly funded services or existing insurance. An adoption subsidy is not automatic, and approval of a subsidy does not mean every private therapy expense is covered.
How Allied Therapy Can Help
Depending on individual needs, Allied offers speech-language assessment and therapy, AAC support, occupational therapy for participation and routines, neurodivergent-affirming behaviour consultation, clinical counselling and age-appropriate play therapy. We focus on connection, choice and functional skills, not assumptions about a child's history. With family consent, our clinicians can collaborate with schools, physicians and other professionals and provide clinical documentation within their scope.
How Funding Works
Families can contact Allied Therapy to discuss what they need and request service information or a quote. Families with an existing adoption subsidy agreement should review it with their adoption or child and family wellbeing contact before incurring costs. We can provide a description of the proposed service, fees and clinical recommendations as appropriate. Any public funding authorization, consent and invoicing arrangements should be confirmed in writing before services begin.
Who Can Access or Refer
Adoptive parents or legal guardians, adoption support workers, social workers, healthcare professionals and schools may inquire. Families do not need to know their funding eligibility before speaking with us.
