About This Funding Program
The Seniors Care Grant is a Government of Nova Scotia program for eligible older adults who live in a home or apartment they own or rent. For the 2026–27 program, it provides $750 per qualifying household toward eligible household services, home heating and certain healthcare services, including mental health support. Applicants must be 65 by March 31, 2027, have household net income of $45,100 or less, meet housing and expense requirements, and apply by December 1, 2026. The grant does not cover medical or assistive devices. Rules and deadlines may change in future program years.
How Allied Therapy Can Help
Allied Therapy offers individualized services that may be useful to older adults, including counselling for emotional well-being and life transitions, occupational therapy for daily routines and home participation, and speech-language pathology for communication or cognitive-communication needs. These services are available in clinic, virtually when appropriate, and in select community settings. Mental health support is specifically named in the grant’s published eligible healthcare examples; confirm other types of therapy with the program before relying on grant funds.
How Funding Works
Check the provincial grant criteria and apply directly through Service Nova Scotia by the published deadline. For 2026–27, qualifying costs must be incurred or expected between April 1, 2026 and March 31, 2027. Keep itemized receipts showing the person served, type and date of service, cost, and provider name and address. Allied Therapy can provide standard service receipts, but cannot confirm an expense is covered or apply on your behalf. Contact the grant program before booking if you need confirmation about a particular therapy.
Who Can Access or Refer
Older adults, family members, caregivers, physicians, nurse practitioners, community organizations and senior-serving agencies can contact Allied Therapy. Individuals apply to the Seniors Care Grant directly or with assistance from someone they trust.
