Mental Health Therapist
Certified Play Therapists and Neurodivergent-Affirming Clinical Therapists
Thinking about coming home to Nova Scotia or looking for a role where you can practise with greater creativity, collaboration, and support?
Allied Therapy offers a flexible, growth-focused environment where you can use your clinical training, develop meaningful areas of practice, and help children, teens, adults, and families feel understood and supported.
Location: Bedford, Nova Scotia, with opportunities to work in the clinic, community, and virtually.
Employment type: We are open to part-time and full-time employment options for the right therapist.
Why Choose Allied Therapy?
If you are a mental health professional who provides play therapy or focuses on supporting neurodivergent clients, this is an opportunity to build the kind of practice you envisioned when you entered the profession.
We know many therapists are asking:
-
“Will I have the freedom to practise in a way that reflects my values?”
-
“Will I be supported when clients have complex or overlapping needs?”
-
“Can I grow my practice without feeling isolated?”
-
“Will I be part of a team that genuinely collaborates?”
At Allied Therapy, you do not have to choose between clinical independence and team support.
We are building an integrated model where mental health therapy works alongside occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and behaviour therapy. You will have the flexibility to use your professional judgment while benefiting from shared learning, mentorship, and thoughtful collaboration.
What Makes This Role Different?
-
A practice shaped around your strengths: Develop a caseload that reflects your training, interests, professional scope, and preferred populations.
-
Flexible service delivery: Work with clients in the clinic, community, and virtually when clinically appropriate.
-
Integrated care: Collaborate with occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, board-certified behaviour analysts, and other mental health professionals.
-
Neurodivergent-affirming practice: Support clients without treating neurodivergence as something that needs to be corrected or normalized.
-
Meaningful professional development: Participate in weekly learning, case consultation, mentorship, and ongoing professional development.
-
A growing service area: Help shape how Allied Therapy delivers accessible mental health and play therapy services across Nova Scotia.
-
A collaborative workplace: Join a team where your clinical perspective, ideas, boundaries, and contributions are respected.

Why Allied Therapy Is Different
“I’m comfortable where I am, but I’m not growing.” At Allied Therapy, you will have opportunities to expand your skills, shape your caseload, and contribute to a developing area of care while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and flexibility.
“What if I move into private practice and feel isolated?” You will work within a multidisciplinary team that values consultation, shared learning, and coordinated care. You will retain your clinical independence while having trusted colleagues around you.
“Will I be expected to fit clients into one standard approach?” No. We believe effective therapy begins with understanding the individual. You will be supported to adapt your approach to each client’s development, communication, nervous system, identity, culture, and goals.
“Will I receive meaningful professional support?” Yes. Professional development is built into how we work. Weekly learning, case consultation, mentorship, and opportunities to develop new services are part of the Allied Therapy model.
